Hatem Rouached
Biography
H. Rouached gained scientific and managerial skills during his PhD (University of Montpellier II, France, 2002-2005), his Postdoc (University of Lausanne, Switzerland, 2005-2009), and as Senior Scientist in Crop Design (BASF Company, Ghent, Belgium, 2010-2012). In 2012, he was recruited at INRA – Montpellier – FRANCE as permanent research. He was recently (2016-2018) at Carnegie Institution for Science, Stanford, USA as visiting faculty. During two decades, H. Rouached acquired expertise in the area of molecular and physiological aspects of plant nutrition. He is using system genetics to study how plants detect, make sense of, and adapt to various nutrient signals.

Talk title and synopsis
Getting to the Root of Plant Mineral Nutrition: System genetics to study how plants make sense of various nutrient signals.
Recent studies reveal that plant responses to multiple nutrient stresses are not the summation of the plant responses to each individual stress. I will present and discuss the interactions between key macro- and micronutrients to illustrate their effects oon plant growth and ion homeostasis.
