The Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology offers 30 Support Grants for graduate students and young post-docs from member countries in Europe to attend the FESPB/EPSO Plant Biology Europe 2020 Congress PBE2020. Grants will be available on a competitive basis.
Applicants should either be registered as graduate students (master or PhD), or employed as post doctoral researchers in Plant Biology in FESPB European member countries (see list at https://www.fespb.org/organisation/affiliated-scientific-societies/).
The Support Grant covers registration and 5-night accommodation.
Support grant winners will have to pay their own travel costs.
In order to apply for a Support Grant, applicants should:
- Submit an abstract to the Congress within 15 January 2020 as presenting and correponding Authors, ticking the relevant flag on abstract submission
- Apply at FESPB (https://www.fespb.org/awards/support-grants/) for a Support Grant before 15 January 2020.
Selection will be performed by FESPB and successful applicants will be notified on the Congress website by 28 February 2020.
Committee of the FESPB Support Grants 2020 was composed by Jana Albrechtová, the FESPB Chair of the Grants & Awards Committee, based on the nominations put forward by the members of the FESPB Council and/or the Members ok the FESPB Executive Committee.

FESPB AWARDS and BEST POSTERS
The FESPB Awards are the Federation’s most prestigious awards. Two FESPB Awards are going to awarded by FESPB to two young plant scientists with excellent cv selected by the FESPB Grants and Awards Committee at the FESPB/EPSO Plant Biology Europe Congress PBE2020.
Winners are sponsored to attend the Congress. They also receive a cheque and a certificate. Each awardee will receive 2,000 €. Prices are going to be donated by two prestigious journals – the Physiologia Plantarum and the Journal of Experimental Botany. The winners are asked to give a talk at the Congress and write an article for the particular Journal.
Two FESPB Awards are usually presented at each FESPB Congress to young scientists chosen from nominations put forward by each of the constituent societies of the FESPB. Nominations from a senior scientist belonging to the FESPB-member’s National Society will also be taken into consideration.
The candidates for FESPB awards must have completed his/her Ph.D. no more than six years before the start of the Congress (parental leaves are not considered in calculating this period). The deadline for submitting candidacy is March 28.

In order to participate to the selection, applicants will be requested to notify at the registration desk and to attach a label provided at registration to their poster.
The selection is made by independent evaluators during the FESPB Congress.
The final selection is made by the FESPB Grants and Awards Committee.
